Black Dog Brigade is a 501 (c)(3) non profit organization that advocates for animals in shelters; especially those that are heartworm positive, pit bulls, seniors and have black fur.  We are not a rescue so we do not have a foster network or the ability to pull dogs from shelters.  We do raise money for shelter dogs for medical treatment, heartworm treatment and basic necessities that will make them more attractive to adopters and rescues.  We do believe every dog deserves a second chance in a forever home regardless of color, age, breed and history.

We are actively working with to bring change to animal cruelty laws in North Carolina, change BSL legislation, putting a stop to backyard breeding and bringing awareness to the dire state many shelters are in and the horrible living conditions many animals suffer in.  As a member of RDU Advocates for Animal Welfare, we are proud to be able to be a voice for the voiceless.
